Frictional torque of collar and pivot hearing is cniculated on the basis of two assumptions. Uniform pressure theory It is assumed that the inunsity of pressure on the beuring surface is constant. Uniform wear theory- It is assumed that there is uniform wear of the bearing surface.
For flat bearing
Using uniform pressure theory
Frictional torque, T= 2 μWF(Ro^3-R1^3)/3(Ro^-R1^2)
Using uniform wear theory :
Frictional torque, T= μF( (Ro+R1) = μFR
F = axial load,
Ro R1= External and internal radius of collar bearing
R = Mean radits of collar bearing.
For Conical bearing:
Using uniform pressure theory
Frictional torque T= 2/3 μWR cosecɑ
Using uniform wear theory
Frictional torque, T= 2/3 μFR cosecɑ
F = axial load,
R = Radius of shaft
